Comprehensive Energy Savings at Albert Distribution Centres

Project introduction and context

ENAT designed and verified comprehensive energy-saving measures for Albert’s distribution centres under the OPPIK Energy Savings subsidy programme (Call V).

Client and scope

Client: Albert Česká republika, s.r.o.

Scope: both distribution centres / both sites, with the same set of key measures.

Assignment: design and verification of comprehensive energy-saving measures for OPPIK Energy Savings (Call V).

Key technical measures

  • Industrial refrigeration modernisation: replacement of obsolete ammonia piston compressors with highly efficient turbo-compressors using environmentally preferable HFO refrigerant (low GWP).
  • Waste heat recovery: installation of heat-pump cascades using waste heat from the refrigeration process for heating and domestic hot water production.
  • Heat-source refurbishment: installation of modern condensing gas boilers and optimisation of hydraulic circuits.
  • Ventilation modernisation: replacement of existing air-handling units with more efficient systems featuring heat recovery and advanced demand-based output control.

Benefits achieved or expected

The total benefits are stated as the combined figures for both projects:

  • total annual energy savings: 18,204 GJ/year,
  • emissions reduction: 2,240 t/year,
  • operating cost savings: CZK 5.67 million/year.

Subsidy programme and evaluation

Both projects demonstrated high cost-effectiveness and significant environmental benefits. They were recommended for implementation and received high scores under the subsidy criteria (more than 70 points out of 100).
